Why we should donate to charity ?????

Charity is one of the most noble tasks that a man can do in his life.According to different religious beliefs, our life on earth is just a transitory phase of an eternal journey towards
A charitable person loves his fellow-beings and likes to help them in distress. He is very sensitive to the feelings of others. The sight of pain or misery troubles him and he tries his level best to alleviate that misery. He is deeply moved  at the sight of beggars, or victims of natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes etc. Today , the world is in greater need of charity than ever before. The gap between the rich and the poor is widening. While on one hand, we have the billionaire businessmen, sport stars and movie stars. While on the other hand we have millions of diseased and starving men, women and children dying for that one morsel of grain that would keep them alive. If all the rich people and even people who are reasonably well-off contribute something in terms of money, food, clothes or even empathy, then the world would definitely be better off. There is no denying the fact that sections from the rich have always contributed towards the upliftment of the poor. Many big corporations ,charitable trusts and societies make good contributions in areas of poverty-alleviation,food supply,education and health.Recently the two richest men on the planet, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and investor Warren Buffet announced the donation of a lion's share of their wealth to charity. They also called upon fellow billionaires all over the world to emulate them. This has had  a ripple effect whose benefits are being seen all over the world. But evidently, a lot more needs to be done.

So, this brief period that we are on earth, which we call life, has to be lived with a purpose. For some people the true meaning of life is the joy of giving. They realize this dream of theirs by engaging in acts of charity. But this does not necessarily mean that one has to be a billionaire to show charity.Even simple actions like feeding a poor man for a day, or teaching a poor kid are acts of charity. Every person can do his own bit , and it would make some difference to another person's life. Also, acts of charity should not be trumpeted. It should be done from the heart and not for publicity or other commercial purposes. The best form of charity is the one in which the identity of the donor remains hidden.Giving to others increases your capacity for love. It makes you realize that even if you don’t have much, you have enough to share with others. In fact, analysis of giving data shows that poor people donate a larger percentage of their income to charity than rich. Donating used clothes to a shelter, new shoes to foster kids, or money to a worthy organization will make you feel rich.If you have children, donating to charity will show them you care about others and want to make the world a better place. If you involve your children in choosing charities, you will instill a desire to share and serve that will last throughout their lives.
Grandchildren, nieces and nephews can also be influenced by your generosity towards others. These days, this generous attitude to giving to the needy is not so well defined. People don’t know how to help or how to make sure their donation goes towards the cause and not just to charity operating expenses. Why is it important that we donate to charity? Here are just 5 good reasons:

1.       Help other people – there are millions of people in the world who are worse of than we are at any one time. Many of these folk have problems that are not their fault or are beyond their ability to prevent or change. Humans are a social animal and the best way for mankind to advance is by helping those who are unable to help themselves. We have a responsibility to care for other people, to help those less fortunate than ourselves. When we have some spare cash, time or goods, it is an opportunity to help out.
2.       Make a difference – donating to charity is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in the world. By making a difference to someone’s life, you are leaving behind a legacy. You are making a statement that your life was worthwhile because you made a contribution to society.

3.       Feel good – medical and scientific research has proven beyond doubt that giving to other people makes you feel good. The feeling of satisfaction you get when you help someone else is hard to replicate with any other type of activity or endeavor. People who give feel happier, are less anxious and suffer less depression than those who don’t. Better health is enjoyed by those who donate their time, expertise or money to others who are in need. Charitable people tend to be able to cope with their own problems more easily than those who don’t donate. Giving to others improves your self-esteem, self confidence and self worth. This advantage flows into all areas of your life so you will find that you are more confident at work and in social situations.
4.       Support a cause you believe in – different charities touch the heart of different people. If you are passionate about something or believe that a certain area is important, you will be able to support that cause by donating to charity. You might be passionate about every child having access to a good education; that nobody should live in poverty in the 21st century; that everyone should be able to experience music or art. Whatever you believe in or are passionate about, you will be able to further the cause through donations to charity.

5.       Meet new people – donations to charity give you the opportunity to met new people and expand your circle of acquaintances. This is especially true when you donate your time or expertise to a worthy cause. While most charitable organizations always need money, many could not operate without an army of volunteers. Whether you give up your time one day a week to serve meals, give a few hours a day to sit with the elderly or travel overseas to help build houses, you will certainly meet many like-minded people along the way. As well as being potential friends, who knows where these new relationships will take you and how these new people might be able to help you in the future? So shed any doubts you have
